Our Team at Athens Equine

Todd Laughrey 

Originally from Florida, Dr Laughrey began his veterinary career in 1992.  In 2002, he and Marcie moved to Pilot Point, TX and then landed in Athens in 2012, and built the clinic here.  Through the years it has grown to now a multiple vet practice.  Specializing in performance medicine for the equine athlete.  The Athens clinic has a broad range of clientele from horse racing, halter, cow horse, reining to barrel racing.

Noah Grimes

Noah Grimes was born and raised in Montauk, NY before moving south to pursue his higher education. He received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University. Following graduation, he completed his internship at Elgin Veterinary Hospital in Elgin, TX. Throughout Dr. Grimes’ professional career, he has pursued his passion for equine sports medicine.

 

Dr. Grimes’ early years in New York did not stop him from being involved in horses at a young age. Starting his career riding and showing jumpers, he crossed over into the western world and has since ridden and shown horses in many disciplines including working cow horse, cutting, reining and barrel racing. Dr. Grimes continues to compete in barrel racing as well as breeding the next generation of champions of barrel horses.

Madalyn Kirbach

Dr. Madalyn Kirbach-Willemsma grew up in Vermont where she carved her way to the Junior Olympics in downhill ski racing and a Young Rider in Eventing. She completed her undergraduate degree at Castleton University and veterinary school at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Kirbach spent 4 years in private practice prior to being accepted as an intern at Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery in Weatherford Texas. She started at Athens Equine in 2021 and lives here with her husband, Logan, two cats (Hank and Randy), a Border Collie (Dolly), and four horses (Karl, Junior, Chuck and Lucy). “
